Founded in 2025, the Association for Artificial Intelligence in Legal (A4L) is a nonprofit, interdisciplinary working coalition focused on applying AI responsibly and effectively within the legal profession. The Association unites law firms and AI technology vendors to share knowledge, address challenges, and drive innovation in the responsible application of AI to legal practice.

The Association aims to be a leading voice in advancing the ethical and responsible use of AI in the legal industry through research, education,
and collaboration.
The goal of the Association is to support research and education about emerging technology, particularly AI, within the legal field. We aim to be the authority in 1) identifying, 2) advising on and 3) addressing emerging workforce, legal and ethical issues related to artificial intelligence at small and mid-size law firms.
The Association will help the legal industry learn more about AI in the legal workforce, AI and data privacy laws and ethics. It will highlight emerging tech leaders within law who are effectively and responsibly using AI through awards, speaking opportunities and research content.
